Anushka's modelling career began at Lakme Fashion Week in 2017. The model has since been featured in several campaigns, including campaigns in support of Fiat Palio & Fiat Whisper Nathella Jewelry. Anushka started auditioning films and enrolled in an acting school in addition to her work as model. In 2008 Anushka Sharma began her acting career with the movie Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi alongside Shah Rukh Khan. As a screen test for her, she refused to do an impromptu one and took the day off to practice. Later, she signed up for three films in collaboration with Yash Raj Films. The film in which she starred was the young bride to a middle-aged male (the character Shah Rukh Khan was playing). The film was hit on the box office and was the second-highest-grossing movie of 2008. Anushka was seen along with Shahid Kapoor and Vi Das as well as Meiyang Chang in the 2010 movie "Badmash Company". The film received mixed praises. Anushka Sharma was in the same movie "Band Baaja Baraat. She played the role of a Punjabi woman of middle class who owns her own wedding company. This movie was well received and was later a sleeper. Anushka's contract for three movies under Yash Raj Films was completed with the Band Baaja Baraat.
